Egyptian Defense Minister Attends Paris Air Show 2019

Egypt’s Minister of Defense, General Mohamed Zaki (photo), arrived in France to take part in the 53rd International Paris Air Show, Egypt Daily News quoted a Sunday statement by the Egyptian military spokesperson.

The international air show is held in Paris, from June 17 to 23, 2019. It is an exhibition for the aviation and aerospace industry.

 Zaki is accompanied by a high-profile delegation in an official three-day visit. On the side-lines of the air show, Zaki will hold meetings with top military officials and commanders of participating countries, the statement clarified.

 The expected meetings aim to enhance military cooperation with brotherly countries, the statement added.

 Furthermore, Zaki will address French officials on various topics that include international and regional issues of common interest.

 Over recent years, Egypt and France have conducted several joint drills to exchange expertise and promote military cooperation.

 In March, Egyptian and French naval forces carried out the joint drills ‘Cleopatra-Japian 2019’ in France. This is considered one of the biggest joint exercises between the two countries.

 Earlier, they also launched the ‘Cleopatra 2018’ naval exercise to boost security in the Red and Mediterranean Seas.

 For his part, the Chairman of Bahrain International Air Show (BIAS)’s High Organizing Committee, Minister of Transportation and Communications, Deputy Chairman of BIAS High Organizing Committee, Eng. Kamal bin Ahmed Mohammed, participated in the opening of the International Paris Air Show - SIAE Le Bourget 2019, Bahrain News Agency (BNA) reported.

 Bahrain’s participation aimed at promoting communication between the Kingdom of Bahrain and the participating aviation companies to accentuate Bahrain as a hub attractive to businesses in the aviation sector in the Middle East.  

The Minister highlighted the significance of Bahrain’s participation in encouraging the largest number of international aviation companies to take part in the upcoming Bahrain International Air Show, where businessmen, economic and industrial companies meet on November 18-20 at the Sakhir Airbase under the royal patronage. 

 He said the Paris Air Show is the largest air show in the world, a unique forum for leading civil and military aircraft manufacturers, making it and an ideal platform for the promotion to the Bahrain International Air Show 2020. 

 On the sidelines of Paris Air Show, the Minister of Transportation and Telecommunications met the UAE’s Minister of State for Higher Education and Advanced Skills also Chairman of the UAE Space Agency, a number of transportation and telecommunications ministers and representatives from international companies participating in the international event within the framework of boosting cooperation for the progress of the aviation sector in the region.
